MSL SENIOR LEAGUE DIV 2 TEMPLE PARK

TEMPLE UTD 1 – 2 YOUGHAL UNITED.

                                         KEN DEMPSEY

                                         BRENDAN O SULLIVAN

This was a vital win for United who had to come from behind to secure the points.

Temple had the better of the opening stages and United were struggling and went behind midway through the half. Paul Moylan had a chance to level things but missed his spot kick. Temple deserved their half time lead and it was looking good for them. Youghal started to get back into the game in the early stages of the second half and it was ken Dempsey who got the vital goal for them and from that United pushed forward and were rewarded when Brendan O’ Sullivan was on hand to score the goal which was to win the game for Youghal. The performance may not have been the best but the result was the main outcome.

YOUGHAL UNITED 3 – 2 INISHVILLA.

PETER DOHERTY

TOMMY KENNIFICK

VINNI MULLINS

This game turned out to be a very exciting game and a great win for the lads as they had not played for over six weeks.

United’s first half performance did not look like they had not played for a while and they got off to a great start when Peter Doherty gave them the lead and this was shortly added to by Tommy Kennifick to put United two up. Inishvilla were finding it hard to get into the game and their task was made harder just before the break when United scored their third from Vinni Mullins. The second half was much different for Youghal and they had to compete with a better Inishvilla team who scored early in the half which gave them confidence and United conceeded a second not long after. The game now was very exciting and United had to defend a lot which they did and held out in the end for a great win.

United Academy v Clashmore

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Last Saturday, many of Youghal’s Under 8’s got the chance to wear the club shirt and play under the lights against real opposition. After months of training on Sunday mornings, the lads were keen to put their abilities to the test against visiting Clashmore.

Several highly competitive matches took place under the watchful eyes of coaches Pierce Hennessy, Tommy Kenefick, Emmett Perry, and Patrick Morrissey.

The atmosphere under the lights of the all-weather pitch was massive, with Youghal and Clashmore supporters really shouting for their teams.

With the success of the night behind them, the Academy is looking forward to making a return visit to Clashmore very soon.

Under 11 league Ardrath Park Sun 6th Dec

Youghal United 0 – 5 Glountaune

Things are not going very well for United’s under 11’s and once again they fell behind only after 3 minutes in this game and the visitors kept this lead till the break.  Glountaune had much of the second half and three goals in the space of seven minutes wrapped up the game for them. Youghal kept trying hard and were unlucky when they saw the ball come back off the upright. Glountaune rounded off the game when they scored their fifth goal for a very good win.

Youghal United 2- 4 Ringmahon Rangers

Report: Anthony Horgan

After a good win last week the boys will be bitterly disappointed with this defeat at home to a team which they feel they could and should have won. Ringmahon scored the fourth at the death after Youghal pressed for the equaliser. Andrew Hennessey and David Kenneally got on the score sheet. They will now go back to the drawing board and regroup for the coming games.

Bandon 0- 5 Youghal United

Report: Anthony Horgan

The lads had a very good away win on Sunday morning when Michael John Hennessey was in devastating form hitting them for a hat-trick. Sean Kenneally and Brendan O’Sullivan completed the scoring. This keeps the lads on track to try and catch Fermoy for top spot in the league table. Goals seem to be in plenty of supply lately so long may it last!!!

Youghal United 1 – Crosshaven 8

Report: Dick Sheehan

The Youghal girls went into this game hoping to contain the Crosshavan girls. However the visitors had other ideas and started the quicker and were 2 goals up within the first few minutes. The Youghal defence worked hard to keep themselves in the game but the quality of the premier league side proved to be too much as Crosshaven added 2 more goals before half time. However the Youghal girls pulled a goal back when Jessica Lawton shot from outside the box and her dipping shot went past the Crosshaven keeper. Youghal almost scored again before half time when Rebecca Kearns sent her shot just wide.

The Crosshaven girls tightened things up in the second half and limited Youghal’s chances while scoring 4 more goals themselves. The Youghal girls continued to work hard right up until the final whistle and deserved better for their hard work. Best for Youghal were Biane Roche, Sarah Roche, Molly Schofield and Jessica Lawton.

SCHOOLBOYS
SUN NOV 30 ARDRATH PARK
UNDER 16 LEAGUE DIV 1.
YOUGHAL UNITED 1 – 2 RINGMAHON RANGERS.
  CALUM  PHELAN
A dissappointing result for the lads who were playing their first game since the departure of coach Jamie Lawton.  United played very well in the first half but once again they lacked the finishing touches up front. David Hurley had probably the best chance for united when his shot was just wide.  Ringmahon did not trouble the united keeper David Cashman too much in that half but that changed in the second when he made some fine saves. Ringmahon who upped their game took the lead early in the second half and kept the pressure up on united who were not playing as good as the first. Alan keniry was unluckey not to get his header on target which was one of united’s best chance. Shortly afterwards a superb cross found Calum Phelan and his effort shot past the stranded keeper. Youghal’s joy was short lived and three minutes later Cashman in the youghal goal could do little from a Ringmahon free kick which gave them the win. Hopefully a new manager can be found soon and coach these punch of lads back to winning ways.
